SOFTLY UK BIRMINGHAM LAUNCH
Birmingham caught Richard Fearless mid-bender at the
Medicine Bar on May 11th. At ClubSoftly's meltdown launch
party Mr Fearless played a blinder, whilst apologising
profusely for his bender.
This was brought about, he assured us by post album
completion trauma. Not that you could tell once he started
digging deep into his box of vinyl tricks. He reminisced
it seemed for the first 15 minutes of his set, re-visiting
the synth heavy eighties.
The old favourite New Order's Blue Monday careered
through the speakers, that infamous hook making the
crowd giggle and groove. And groove they did, Fearless
mixed effortlessly through the dark and funky bass kicks.
X-Press Two's new tune was a highlight, booty on the
floor for that one.
Fresh Fearless, lets hope he recovers. Slackers Delight
followed and rocked it, their set ripped open with a
storming funky hip-twitcher from Jef Dam,.
The crowd jumped and jived, one middle-aged Caribbean
couple shouted with delight when Timo Mass's remix of
Sunburn by Muse hit them, boggling down socca -stylee
to the electro funk breaks. A night that was a proper
party, styling music with accompanying visuals from Unknown
Artists, we all did the twist.
