Vaz® is an M_Peg3 Player.
A project from 1999 (text
from same time)
These are fast becoming the defacto standard for the
distribution of sound on the internet, and there will
always be a demand for an interface to play *.mpg Madja
is an interface to the Vaz¨ player, existingas a character
that lives on your screen. She will, if provoked in
the appropriate manner play your Music files, dance,
talk, etc....
She will appear when the computer starts up and hang
out with you on the computer screen killing time until
you need her for something. I will produce more than
one interface, more than one personality to live on
your screen, subsiquent 'skins' as I call them, if present
on the screen at the same time will interact with each
other as well as interacting with the user. Vaz will
soon have a Male interface 'skin' called MeVurt who
can hang out with you and Madja.
Vaz® will be produced using Illuminator, a new multimedia
development platform developed by TEXTware A/S in Denmark.
The software works in a similar way to Macromedia's
Director, allowing pre-rendered media elements to be
controlled real time by user interaction. Illuminator
has some very special extra powers. Using this software
we will be able to create a vector shaped application
window. this will allow us to impose the Madja® interface
directly over the operating system.

Bytesized has been developed by VIVID in response to
the rapid developments in digital media and net technology
over the past 5 years. Debates and technology move on
constantly: and byte sized positions itself to allow
high impact exploration through small scale works.
6 artists have been commissioned to create digital
art works that whilst existing within 1 MB of memory,
push the boundaries where confined space and the latest
digital tools meet. The results form a virtual playground
fusing the commercial and the conceptual.
Byte Sized embraces the notion of creative potential
and confined space. The six artists you will find here
vary in conceptual approach and intrigue in their methodologies.
All share a desire to experiment.
